BIO

Tinigi Starr- born Tiana Nichele Gist Feb 19, 1981 a native of San Bernardino, CA started singing at the age of 1 yrs old. Stemming from a musically inclined mother who wrote and sang songs to Tinigi and her twin sister constantly teaching them to harmonize and sing solos. Eventually in1989 Tinigi and her twin joined the children’s choir and continued on to sing for all the church events and concerts at Loveland Baptist Church. Embracing her Christian background and culture, Tinigi continued on using her voice to inspire others crafting and perfecting her intense vocal training she received from the director of music at her church Clarence Williams. She then decided to pursue a career as a professional singer and began writing songs and recording an album. In 2005, she auditioned for American Idol making it all the way to Hollywood, Tinigi then went on to audition for P Diddy’s Star maker in 2008. In 2010 Tinigi landed the opportunity of a lifetime when she went on tour as a background singer for Mary J Blige, by 2012 she started backing up singers like Shaunte Moore, writing and arranging hooks and doing shows with various rappers and singers like Suga Free, Dj Quik, Jon B, and T pain. In 2016, focusing more on her songwriting, Tinigi landed opportunities to write for the popular shows Empire, Star; she even began gaining an opportunity for a song placement on the dynamic girl pop group TLC. Now Tinigi Starr is back 2017 in full effect working on a solo project and getting placements on independent and knows artist albums continuously. Her all time favorite musical influences include Whitney Huston ,Sade, Music Soulchild , Lauryn Hill, and Brandy.
